Collinstown Park Sports Complex Hosts Launch Of Clondalkin Autism Friendly Towns Programme

Collinstown DDLETB Autism Friendly Towns
Collinstown Park Sports Complex was honoured to host the recent launch of the Clondalkin Autism Friendly Towns Programme, marking an important step forward in creating a more inclusive and accessible community for autistic people and their families.
The event brought together a wide range of voices, including community groups, local businesses, advocates and public representatives, all united by a shared commitment to understanding, inclusion and meaningful change. We were delighted to welcome Adam Harris, CEO and founder of AsIam, Minister Emer Higgins, Deputy Mayor Trevor Gilligan, TD Shane Moynihan to the complex. It was a powerful evening that highlighted the importance of working collaboratively to ensure that everyone feels welcome, supported and comfortable within our town.
We were especially proud to be recognised as one of the first Autism Friendly Town Champions in Clondalkin. This recognition reflects the ongoing efforts of our team, who have undertaken specialised training with AsIAm and introduced a number of supportive initiatives within the centre, including the creation of a quiet room and a new sensory wall. These developments are part of our continued commitment to making our facilities accessible and inclusive for all members of the community.
Adding to this achievement, we were delighted to receive two awards on the evening — one for Collinstown Park Sports Complex and another for the Cycling Inclusion Centre of Excellence. These awards acknowledge the dedication of our staff and the strong partnerships we have built with local disability groups, many of whom we have worked closely with through our Bike Hub.
We would like to extend our sincere congratulations to the Autism Friendly Towns committee for their outstanding work in delivering this programme, as well as to the speakers who shared their personal and powerful stories. Congratulations also to the other Autism Friendly Town Champions and thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to such a meaningful and memorable event.
