The heart of Sallynoggin College was very much on show in April, with their Graduate Fashion Show. Celebrating the talent that has been born and nurtured within the walls of Sallynoggin College of Further Education, this event was brought home to the college for the first time in over 15 years. The Fashion Show and Exhibition was hosted by the Fashion Industry Practice and Fashion Design courses, showcasing the work of past, present and future students. Brightening the evening’s reception was the effervescent DJ Papillon, while the dance students also created a stir with their performance, Throwback.
Sarah Murphy, past student of Fashion Design at Sallynoggin College, and this year’s Innovation Award Winner at the Irish Fashion Innovation Awards 2018, was guest speaker at the show. Sarah highlighted the skills, benefits and confidence she gained from studying fashion design in Sallynoggin College of Further Education.
The Fashion Show featured garments designed and created by our dedicated Fashion Design students, while the Fashion Industry Practice students took us on a Retrospective Styling journey through Spring/Summer 2018 trends. With a nod to the past 50 years of Sallynoggin College, the styling carried their own personal twist.
10 years ago, Sallynoggin College launched the Fashion Industry Practice award, opening its’ doors to followers of fashion, who continue to this day to bring creativity and passion to their work. Much like fashion does on a daily basis, our current students took a page out of the unwritten fashion book, by looking back on previous year’s work. They curated an striking retrospective photographic exhibition telling a story about 10 years of Fashion Industry Practice photo-shoots.
The Fashion Design studio presented a vibrant, behind-the-scenes opportunity to meet with the designers, and discover how their ideas developed into the creations they presented in the fashion show. The fashion expressions were unique, and Sallynoggin College proudly showcased the diversity of its’ Fashion students, who continue to progress their careers at home and abroad.
