The future in Dún Laoghaire will look brighter after you see the Painting and Photography Exhibition created by three groups from the Dublin & Dún Laoghaire ETB Adult and Community Based Education Service in Dún Laoghaire.
The voices of the Adult Learners can be heard very clearly in the old and new coming together through digital photography and exploration of local history. Painting and collage are mediums used by a group of women to explore identity. Also, people availing of homeless services have been picking up cameras and taking photos of their local area or enjoying a weekly painting class.
The work has been produced by St. Laurence’s Parents, Dún Laoghaire Active Retired Group and The Step-UP Project (homeless service users). The exhibition will run from Monday 24th February at 2pm to Friday 28th February in the Concourse, County Hall, Marine Road, Dún Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. This exhibition is one of many events taking place nationally during the Aontas Adult Learners’ Festival 24th Feb – 1st March.
This is an important local event that has given adult learners the opportunity to come together and display their work in their own community. You can hear the significance of this in the voices of two of the adult learners taking part:
“Being involved, Being Proud”
“Expressing who I am. Shows that people care about us by putting on an exhibition”
