The Learner Fund is an initiative of the Department of Children and Youth Affairs (DCYA). The Learner Fund supports existing staff in early year’s services to gain accredited qualifications (FETAC Level 5 & 6) which are to become mandatory. The Learner Fund provides funding in the form of a subsidy towards the cost of training which will facilitate existing staff working directly with children in registered early year services to attain the mandatory minimum qualification requirements, covering the full academic year and starting each September.
Since September 2015, all staff in Early Years services are requried to have full Level 5 qualifications and all Pre School (ECCE) Room Leaders must have full Level 6 qualifications.
In April 2014, Dublin and Dún Laoghaire ETB (DDLETB) submitted an expression of interest to be included on the panel for the Learner Fund 2014 and were successful in becoming part of this panel.
